How to Use the LOA to Attract Wealth, Prosperity, Happiness

The movie The Secret has been out for several years. Much has already been penned about The Secret. Yet, skeptics and many people still just don’t quite understand how to use the LOA (law of attraction).
Before the movie The Secret came out there was a book named Think and Grow Rich which explored. several of the principles that The Secret put into practice. Among the things they have in common is the idea of attracting prosperity and abundance into life through positive thinking and a good attitude. In essence it’s all about working with the LOA.
The Secret Law of Attraction Requires Absolute Faith
Faith and belief are the first keys to working with the law of attraction. If an individual doesn’t believe that the LOA will work, they will subconsciously be sabotaging their attempt before they even get started.
In Matthew 17 when Jesus's disciples are unable to cast a demon out they ask him why they can't do it. He tells them in Matthew 17:20 "Because you have so little faith." Jesus then basically explains that when people have strong faith anything is possible.
When someone believes the LOA will work, almost anything becomes possible. When there isn't faith, not much can be expected.
The Secret Works with Both the Conscious and Unconscious Mind
This means that the better a person understands his/herself, the better they'll be able to work with the universal law of attraction. Many people worry that if they think negatively they'll attract bad things. While this is partially true, it’s just as true that if a person grew up being called a failure they will likely, on a subconscious level, attract failing into life.
A person must get a handle on their subconscious mind. They would do well to learn to eliminate unconscious fears that are holding them back. Only through working with their unconscious mind will a person truly develop a concrete grasping of how to use the LOA. Once all the unconscious garbage is cleared away an individual then is capable of putting their conscious mind to work. It’s at this point that the real magic of the universal law begins.
The Law of Attraction Attracts, it Does Not Create
Most people are under the belief that this universal law creates reality. This isn’t true. The law does exactly what its name implies. The law attracts like things to each other. Thus, by thinking about a new car, the person will notice and come into contact with more new cars. If a person thinks about a trip to a Sandals Resort, they may start noticing and receiving discounts associated with Sandals.
This also helps to explain why, even when using the LOA, people don't always get everything they want. People can attract the right circumstances and people into their lives that can help make dreams come true, but if a person isn't aware that they are there and if they aren't capable of making the most of the opportunities that they're attracting, then they still aren't going to have the life they've dreamed of.
The Secret Steps to the Law of Attraction and Gaining Prosperity and Abundance
John Assaraf and Murray Smith in their Book The Answer (New York: Atria Books, 2008) lay out a procedure for working with the LOA. This procedure assumes that a person isn’t asking for money.
Bob Doyle, in his Wealth Beyond Reason program, makes it clear that money isn’t what people really want. Money is only a means to that which is desired. He indicates that it is important to focus on the end result, not the means to get there.
Here is the step by step procedure that Assaraf and Smith use when working with the LOA:
- Start by creating a clear and vivid mental vision of the desire. Get into the habit of visualizing that desire every day, especially right before falling asleep.
- Write out affirmations for the vision in present tense. Examples: I am loved by all women. I love driving my new car. I am a social success at the party. Affirmations should be said in conjunction with the visualizations.
- The law of attraction is more feeling oriented than anything else. As Bob Doyle in Byrne’s book on page 34 states, “You’re getting exactly what you’re feeling about, not so much what you’re thinking about.” As such, the next step is creating emotional links. In the book The Answer, this is done by remembering one of the happiest moments in life and attaching that moment to the vision while saying the affirmations.
- Next, it’s important to condition the unconscious mind. Use self made audio tapes or CDs of the affirmation or put visual cues of the desire where they can easily be seen.
- Finally, the reader is told to face the doubt and do it anyway. This reworkinging of the famous book Face the Fear and Do it Anywaysis the idea that once an opportunity comes up, a person must take action on it.
This is a much longer version of Rhonda Byrne’s three step process of ask, believe, and receive. Her process comes from the Bible’s Matthew 7:7-9, which states, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
In all, many people have found a great deal of success by following the secret of the law of attraction. People have been following it since long before 2009. It’s the basic idea of think positively and positive things will eventually happen. It’s the idea that having a good attitude better persuades people to be helpful. So, think positively and keep that attitude in check and the LOA will work.
