The Violet Flame has become one of the most effective meditations in New Age thinking today. This article explores its roots and how it can help you.

What is 'The Violet Flame?

In 1930 Guy W. Ballard had a vision of an Ascended Master known as 'Saint Germain' while hiking on Mount Shasta. Guy went on to record his experiences in two books, Unveiled Mysteries [Kessinger Publishing, LLC - March 1, 2007] and The Magic Presence [St Germain Press - November 1, 1999] , written under the pen name of Godfre Ray King.

It was out of this experience that the concept of the 'Violet Flame' was initially introduced.

Ascended Masters - St. Germain

The Ascended Masters are said to be a group of enlightened beings working towards the goal of bringing humanity into an Age of Enlightenment. Once physically present on Earth, through their own developed consciousness they transcended the bonds of humanity and ascended into the light. These masters include (but are not limited to): Buddha, Jesus, Mother Mary, El Morja, Lord Maitreya, St. Francis and St. Germain. Collectively they form a group of Cosmic Beings whose sole purpose is now to serve as teachers and guides for human beings.

Although the 'I AM' / 'Ascended Masters' teaching is larger than this article can effectively cover, the 'Violet Flame' meditation was conceived and evolved from this essential belief system and has been adopted and elaborated upon extensively ever since.

How Does It Work?

Utilizing the Violet Flame consists of primary visualization techniques used in conjunction with meditation, and there is no one 'right' or 'wrong' methodology of employment. As with all things metaphysical, success is driven more by the individual’s belief in the system as well as consistency of action and practice. There is no inherent dogma or spiritual practice associated with it. Its primary purpose is to transmute what is no longer wanted or desired.

People who have used the Violet Flame meditation regularly report that it has the power to promote calm, relieve stress and undo past karmic actions. As the exercise involves tools such as visualization and meditation, it's unclear whether those things are directly attributable to any inherent power of the flame itself or the act of simply stilling the mind. However, much research has been done n the effects of color and visualization.

The color violet has also been associated with spirituality and is the highest frequency on the spectrum of visible light. As it is the last color that we are able to perceive with our physical eyes, the theoretical belief is that the color violet itself represents a bridge between the corporeal and spiritual, and the act of meditating on it will bring a soul into a much higher vibration.

Collective consciousness suggests that when many people gather together expressing the same belief, miracles are wrought. It is certain then that this concept, along with a firm foundation, strong belief and visualization can be considered to be highly effective tools to assist in bringing about change and transmutation when practiced consistently.
