Many websites have sprung up online offering free spiritual services, such as horoscopes and tarot card readings. Some of these sites are outright scams, while others offer better information and more options than others.
ProAstro is a legitimate tarot, rune, astrology and horoscope site, and it lands in the middle ground in terms of quality and options. They do offer some unique free charts and readings that are hard to find elsewhere online.
Free Online Tarot Card Readings and Free Rune Readings
ProAstro's tarot card readings are decent, but may would agree that they're not the best of all the internet has to offer. They only have one deck of cards, the traditional Rider-Waite and a total of 12 tarot layouts are available. The site does stand out in this respect, as they offer different readings than the usual three-card spreads. The most unusual is the Tetraktys spread.
According to the site, "the Tetraktys spread is based upon Platonist thought and Pythagorean mathematics." They also have the more common large layouts like the Celtic Cross and the Cross and Triangle. Most of the 12 layouts are five or more cards, which offer a greater variety of information.
Most will find that the rune readings are fairly good for a free online tool. There are about thirty different sets to choose from when first starting a reading, but they don't really differ except in the color of the graphics used to display the rune symbols. There are also 12 layouts, but they aren't direct copy of the tarot layouts. Most of them are specifically designed for runes, which add another dimension of information to the reading.
Traditional Astrology and Chinese Astrology Horoscopes and Reports
ProAstro's astrology section offers a variety of free horoscopes and two free reports. The free horoscopes cover all of the usual bases – daily, weekly, monthly, and various focused weekly horoscopes like the site's Career & Love readings. There are a wide variety of love and lust related horoscopes, like the "Seduction Forecast" and "Sexscopes."
The two (free) available reports are a birth chart and a personal forecast. They're short and to the point, but longer and better free astrology reports can easily be found on other sites. The real gem of ProAstro's astrology section is the Chinese astrology coverage.
Unlike other sites, which might have some daily Chinese horoscopes and little else, ProAstro offers a calendar of lucky days, daily and weekly horoscopes, and I-Ching readings. They also have some Feng Shui information that correlates with the zodiac info and the horoscopes.
Biorhythm Calculators, Numerology, and Other Tidbits Round Out the Site
The most useful and interesting free reading offered by ProAstro is their Numerology Tarot reading. It combines the visitor's numerology information with Tarot cards that share the same meanings, and give more information than the plain numerology reading.
A daily biorhythm calculator and a free ESP test help round out the site's offerings. Zodiac compatibility tests, mostly based around romantic relationships, are also offered. They begin as free readings, but the bulk of the information is hidden on a page that requires a payment to view.
Some Downsides of ProAstro
ProAstro is not without its faults. The site's design and layout is cluttered and can be difficult to navigate. Many of the most helpful and unique tools are tucked away on hard to find category pages. The paid ads are also mixed in with some of the site's internal links, making it difficult to stay on the site at times.
The card and rune descriptions in the tarot and rune readings are also a little short, even for free readings. One sentence is barely enough to cover the varied meanings of a card, but those looking for in-depth answers from a reading will probably seek a professional and pay for a reading. Most free online tarot card readings are more for entertainment purposes than actual insight.
ProAstro's Unusual Tools
While the cluttered pages and difficult navigation may scare off some visitors, those who stay long enough to explore the depths may find some nice surprises within ProAstro's pages. Regularly updated horoscopes, free tarot and rune readings, a surprisingly well-rounded Chinese Astrology section, and a few other tools make ProAstro a helpful and fun site for those interested in spiritual and New Age tools.
