Simple steps anyone can take to make someone else's day a little brighter.
Almost a decade ago the movie Pay it Forward was released into theaters. It told a heart warming story of a young child who tried to make the world a better place. The concept of the film was well received by audiences and a brief 'pay it forward' phenomenon surfaced in North America. This child's message of making the world a more humane place to live is one worth revisting. Many people give something to receive something back. It could be a hug, a handshake, or a personal favor. Often times, when the effort is made to do something nice for someone, there is a conscious (or unconscious) expectation that this favor will one day be returned. Anonymous GivingThere is nothing wrong in having expectations of other people. The quote “treat others the way you would like to be treated” definitely does send a positive message and encourages goodwill within society. However, there is a special gift in anonymous giving, wherein the only thing received is the joy of knowing someone’s day was made brighter based on a random act of kindness. Ultimately, when someone gives something, they always receive something back. It may not always be tangible but it will always be worthwhile.
